EAST OF THE WALL
Too restless for uniform structures.
Growing up in the DDR, Ken struggled with rigid systems and empty slogans. He learned early that it is better to ask difficult questions and speak the truth, even when it makes you uncomfortable.
ABOUT KEN
Bergslagen ยท Sweden
Ken Wolfgangsson was born in East Germany, where language and music were his early refuge and his first inheritance from his father, Wolfgang. From childhood he sang in choirs, played in a punk band, and taught himself guitar and drums.
Today he lives in the forests of Svealand with his family. The woods, the lakes and the stories of the people who lived and worked here shape the songs he writes.
EAST OF THE WALL
Growing up in the DDR, Ken struggled with rigid systems and empty slogans. He learned early that it is better to ask difficult questions and speak the truth, even when it makes you uncomfortable.
LANGUAGE AND MUSIC
His father's love for language and music found its way into him long before he understood it. Choirs, a punk band, self-taught guitar and drums — this was where his path began.
FAMILY AND GROUNDING
His wife has helped to tame his restlessness a little. His son and daughter have grounded him in ways no song ever could. There is still fire, but it burns in the right place.
NORTHBOUND
Ken left Germany and found his way to the forests of central Sweden. Here, far from the noise, he rediscovered a long-lost muse and returned to writing and recording.
WHY WOLFGANGSSON?
My father, Wolfgang, planted the love of language and music in me from the very beginning. Everything I am as a songwriter and storyteller is built on that gift.
The name Wolfgangsson is my way of honouring his influence and carrying that inheritance forward.
When the world became too loud,
the forests gave the songs room to return.
FROM THE FORESTS OF SVEALAND
The forests of Svealand are not a genre. They are the place from which the songs begin.
Ancient lakes, silent pines, old mining grounds and forgotten villages – these are the landscapes that whisper. The people who lived and worked here left their traces. Their stories, their struggles and their quiet strength find their way into the music.
Songs influenced by forests, lakes, seasons and the changing northern light.
Stories of places, people and lives that might otherwise disappear quietly.
Music as a way of carrying history, imagination and personal experience forward.
