Three years after leaving Germany for Sweden, we look upon this small and wondrous corner of the earth with a gratitude deeper than words. Little by little, I shed the habits, frustrations, and resentments of my former life, until the noise of the past finally fell silent.
In that stillness, I rediscovered the muse that had once accompanied me through poems and songs, patiently waiting beneath the northern sky.
From this awakening, Ode to Svealand came into being, a collection shaped by forests and frozen lakes, ancient stories, changing seasons, family, memory, and the quiet miracle of beginning again. Above all, it is a love letter to the land that welcomed us, healed us, and became our home.

After a long winter, the lakes, forests, and old mines of Långban awaken once more. Meltwater, returning birds, Walpurgis fires, and the first warm sunlight connect the village’s mineral-rich past with a hopeful new beginning.

Långban celebrates Midsommar with flower crowns, a decorated maypole, dancing, and shared songs beneath a sun that barely sets. For the narrator, the celebration becomes a moment of profound gratitude in which every long road ends and Svealand finally becomes home.

The extended version ventures even deeper into the unsettling world of the twelve nights, where the Wild Hunt crosses the winter sky and the dead draw close to the living. Rituals, omens, and personal reckonings cleanse the old year before the house, its people, and the world awaken in the light of a new dawn.
